About BA and FAQ

I guess there should be a page for a quick and handy summary of challenges. Maybe also for what the deal is with BA.

I have a blog already because I'm a bit nuts about books and on that blog I post reviews, different categories related to books, book news, author news, and anything else I feel like posting about.

I used to be quite the challenge nut as well, but had gone off them a bit. In the past year I had been wanting to begin challenges again, but haven't been able to find challenges online that I like and that suit me. For instance, there's challenges out there that are for you to read your TBR list or to read the non read books on your shelf, but the ones I found I liked in that respect called for you to give them away afterwards. I never want to give my books away unless I really don't like them. I may love reading, but I also love collecting them. I love to look at my books and be surrounded by books!

That was a bit of a dilemma for me so I decided to start my own and several others which I've been meaning to do. Otherwise everything else is at my blog Bookish Ardour which you can check out or not, it's up to you.

Who can participate in the challenges?
Anyone who wants to and is actually going to read. You don't have to have a blog, but it would be nice to let your friends know where you got the challenge guidelines, but of course it's not mandatory (aren't you lucky I can't hunt you down?). You can be a reader that has a blog and reviews, has a blog and doesn't review, just goes on social networks, Facebook, Twitter....It doesn't matter how you use the internet or what for, if you want to participate you're more then welcome.

What if I don't have a blog?
If you've read the first question you'll know it doesn't matter. You can have one or not, review or not, it's entirely up to you!

If you're wondering for when you sign up for a challenge, if you don't have a blog or website, just list your name and challenge level on the corresponding post - Submission For Non Bloggers - you can check back and update as you go or at intervals. If you don't have a blog, but are on a social network such as Twitter or GoodReads you can still use the link form, just try to use the link that leads to a shelf or wherever you might be keeping an update.

Can I crossover?
There's quite a few challenge hosts out there who state crossing over challenges isn't permitted in the guidelines and then others who don't care. I'm one of the ones who don't care except for the Off The Shelf challenge. You can crossover with that one (I will be) just as long as you don't end up getting new books after you start the challenge and then include them otherwise it defeats the purpose!

On all the challenge pages it says to let you know before the start date if someone is taking part, but can someone join up afterwards?
Yes they can. If they think they can read the amount of books they choose by the end of December then they can join any time of the year. Even if it's half way through it doesn't bother me at all.

As a host will you be participating in all of them?
Not all of them, but most of them. I plan on doing the Dystopia, Steampunk, Off The Shelf, and Comic one. I am contemplating jumping in some time and doing the Century challenge, but I'm not sure yet.
